South Maui offers aquariums, sports parks, surf lessons & plenty of safe snorkeling for kids. You’ll find plenty of fun activities for kids near our Kihei Maui Condo Rentals.
Day 1: Get your snorkel and beach gear
We recommend stopping by Snorkel Bob’s the first day of your arrival to rent snorkel gear for your entire stay. They offer high quality equipment and will fit your child’s gear properly.
Snorkeling for Beginners & Young Children
There is a small protected cove 3 miles up the street called Kalepolepo Beach. This was once used as a fish pond and surrounded by a Hawaiian village. It now features a whale house with observation decks where the Pacific Whale Foundation gives short interactive talks about whales.
The fish pond is ideal for younger children to swim and learn to snorkel. The water is clear, shallow and calm as it is protected by a sea wall.
Day 2 and Beyond

Surfing Lessons for Children
Maui Surf Unlimited has been holding summer surf camps for over 11 years with great success. Children 6-12 can learn to surf with 9 hours of instruction spread out over 3 days.

The coaches are wonderful and the kids get one-on-one attention. They also use lightweight soft top boards which are ideal for the younger children. Our boys were surfing by day 2!
